This eastern most county in Washington state is little traveled even today. It was a mining bonanza in the last century.

There are places in this county that have rarely been traveled since the boom days of the mining era of yesteryear. Places like, Divide Peak, Lead King Hills, Sullivan Creek, Hoaknoee Mountain, and others.

These places are quiet today, although there was a time, over a century ago when every prospector and miner in this county knew their names. And towns like Metaline Falls, and Ione are not like they used to be in those boom years when lead ore ruled the upper part of this county.

But there are unfrequented spots even today, places far off the usual traveled routes where one may see a piece of the past even today.
