The Nine Mile community was located west of Molson on what is known today as Nine Mile road. There were never any business establishments at Nine Mile, but the railroad tracks from Molson to Oroville went through this community.
There was a railway siding at Nine Mile where the train stopped for water from the tower, and to cool its brakes. Here loads of wheat and cords of firewood were picked up to take to market. The railroad was the main source of income for the school. The first school was located in a tent in 1906.
With several Indian allotments nearby, both Whites and Indians attended this school. At one time there were 36 pupils with one teacher for all of the grades. A small frame house was built in 1908 and used as the second school and a nice, larger, school was built in 1913.
The big school building burned in 1935, and school had to be held once again in the old second school house until 1938.
