Two miles down stream from Mason City, Elmertown later (Elmer City) was platted as Elmertown March 2, 1937, on a portion of what had been Elmer Seaton’s homestead.

          Elmer Seaton operated a ferry here for several years. The town grew as an overflow of the Coulee Dam construction town of Mason City.
