Six miles East of Fruitland were two successful mines. A town sprung up full of miners and people to supply the miners with food, clothing and shelter. There were over 300 men working at the Cleveland and Deer Trail mines. A Post Office was established in 1909. The town was also known as Cedar canyon, Chloride or Deer Trail. Deer Trail was one of the most profitable mines in the state. It had produced over a million dollars worth of silver by 1903. The ore was hauled to either Springdale or Davenport.
There were four saloons, a store operated by Mr. Diamond and a log house served as a hotel. In 1900 there was a stage to Springdale and Fruitland. The surrounding land was rich and many settlers raised produce and meat for the miners. Cedarville had a school that was in session for two months in the spring and two in the fall. The teacher lived in the back room of the school building. After the mining boom was over most people left Cedarville or moved to towns in the surrounding area.
